Submissions Guidelines

Words

Scribble is currently closed for submissions. In 2024, we’re opening every quarter for 24 hours (Australian Eastern Standard time). The next submissions window is Monday, 1 April (no joke!)

We accept picture book, early-childhood concept, junior fiction, and junior and middle-grade graphic novel submissions, in PDF format. They may be fiction or nonfiction. We would prefer one carefully chosen submission per author, rather than multiple submissions.

We are looking for:

  • Stories created with passion, curiosity, and integrity.

  • New and empowering ways of thinking: texts that give readers a new set of tools to make sense of the world or a new lens with which to envision it.

  • Manuscripts that construct a world or an idea with strong potential for an artist to bring their own innovative approach to the illustrations.

  • Playful fun!

  • Special stories with a particular Scribble-y zing.

For submissions we require (alongside the manuscript):

  • A one sentence summary

  • Project pitch (150 words)

  • Author biography (150 words)
