Laila Ekboir

Laila Ekboir is an Argentine illustrator. As a kid, she was lucky enough to have parents who were avid readers and instilled in her a love of books. She got a BA in English Lit but found her true passion after graduating, in a workshop for children’s book illustration in Argentina. She later went on to pursue an MA in children's book illustration from the Cambridge School of Art.

Laila likes experimenting with materials of all kinds and thinks it's important to find the right medium for each story. She's inspired by all sorts of things including everyday occurrences, current affairs, and memories. As a Third Culture Kid she's particularly drawn to themes related to identity and cultural expressions. She delights in quirky, comical stories, as well as the challenge of exploring difficult themes in an approachable, sensitive manner.
